Hana (japanese: 花, Hana; born 29 May 2003) is an ecologist, botanist, queer activist, Bay Area cosplayer, and artist who is best known for their astoundingly unecessary Cinnamoroll collection and strange noises. They enjoy spending time around people, looking at greenery, and pondering.
Raised in San Jose, Hana studied Biology at Santa Clara University and graduated June of 2025. Being the chemistry laboratory's associate's assistant, Hana made their way around the biology, chemistry, and physics departments.
Hana is somewhat known for Greenhouse, a story and aspiring comic about queerness in coming of age and allophobia; the story was first conceived while it was in middle school and is still a work in progress. While it is certainly not renowned as a standalone piece, their beloved character Cheryl Clausen has made small waves among captive audiences willing friends.
Early Life
Hana was born in UCI Health, a hospital located in the predominantly Vietnamese-occupied city of Fountain Valley in Southern California. Theeir family eventually mighrated north to the Bay Area to follow its father's work in the ever-revered Silicon Valley. Throughout elementary and middle school, Hana and their siblings regularly transfered between schools because their mom liked experimenting. Later, during their high school years, they made it a point to partake in as many extracurriculars as possible while also working part time.
On March 5th of 2021, Hana was accepted to Santa Clara University as an economics major, chosen out of consideration for their father's affinity for business and because of the impression of career flexibility. Personal Life
Hana is partnered to their beloved Adrian, a most dignified and intriguing chemistry and computer enthused interestmaxxer. Hanadrain announced their official partnership on October 26, 2024.
Hana feels most identified as agnostic. They had grown up as such, finding church ennui and concrete religions personally unsubscribable. They might have been (further) influenced to be communist and even Marxist by Agustin.
On May 18, 2025 at the 3rd annual Culture Gala Show, Hana showcased several of their artworks, including a digital portrait (Hungry, Digital, 11.50 px x 800 px), two watercolored portraits (Body Pain, Ink & Watercolor, 11.2" x 7.6"; River of Wine, Watercolor, 7.6" x 11.2"), and four zines (An Ode to my Gay Love, All Your Shades of Rutaceae, Mr. Meteo, What's the Weather like Today?, and Pinks and Purples and Boys and Girls).
Greenhouse
Greenhouse is an unfinished comic story started in 2014 by Hana (age 11), inspired by Tumblr's Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) fandom (namely bamsarakiilledyou and less remarkably Rebornica), and then later and more prominently Zach. Greenhouse has seen many iterations: the Simran contributed edition during the COVID-19 lockdown (alternative universe where all characters act as traditional humans and Cheryl runs a school) and the most recent and concurrent 2023 revamp. It is said that many of the characters were conceived in the likeness of Hana's mental illnesses.
The story follows the wealthy Miki Chiang who traverses an impoverished yet industrial landscape on a secluded island. These lands, known as The Calbit Islands, are home to the close knitted community of Drivhus. It is a known phenomenon that many members of the Drivhus develop personalized powers, or Graces of God, that emerge during adolescents which is noted to be refined with age and use.

Hobbies
Like with any young child, Hana began drawing with whatever they found around the house which meant creating refridgerator drawings out of paper and pencil. Popular mediums ranged from wide-ruled notebook paper and random NetApp stationary. Some of these drawings made their way to Hana's father's desk, which was formally in what is now known as Hana's current bedroom. Most of them are now lost media.
The first notable pivoting point in Hana's art career is its informal start: combining markers and coloring pencils in one peice, albeit for a Minecraft-themed third grade writing assignment. The memory of all of their classmates huddling around their desk to carefully observe the childishly drawn cuboid seared itself into Hana's mind as a sign to start taking art seriously, and not that Minecraft was all the rage at this time.
Eventually, Hana made it to the fifth grade, when they transfered to SJV which meant art classes. Sketches in notebooks -> Locked in on color pencils -> pens/markers for accountability -> spend a fortune on copics because everyone said they were the best for beldning -> cheap daiso watercolors -> digital -> acrylic -> oil pastels -> color pencils revisited -> charcoal -> oil -> zines

Queer Identity
Being raised by a Vietnamese Catholic Immigrant Mother made being happy a little difficult for Hana. It was not until Zach had introduced Hana to a website that was a familiarly obnoxious blue (Tumblr) that they discovered that two men sharing a tender kiss was alright, not that they ever though it was weird in the first place. | Author | Kurt Vonnegut | Vonnegut is a rather dark and satirical writer, so it's a bit ironic that his writing was the one to get Hana out of a deep depression that lasted years and looked like an unorganized and unsanitary hoarder that knew nothing of health or decency. It was in his book A Man Without a Country where Vonnegut wrote something that reignited Hana's joy and passion for doing anything at all: “[...] go into the arts. I'm not kidding. | Cat | Calico | Disregarding cat breeds, calico refers to the coat coloration of a cat, often three toned: white, orange, and grey. | Cuisine | Korean | This was a hard toss up between several Asian cuisines, all of which were odes to Hana's upbringing. However, after arduous and careful consideration, Korean food won on all important fronts of food forms: noodles (japchae), soup (jjigae), seasoning (sesame oil heavy), flavor profile (excellent balance of sweet, umami, and spicy), and naturally very spicy. Hana adores the idea of a banchan (favorite side being the sweet potato and corn mash, closely followed by fish cakes) and would love if every meal ever came with one. |

| Drink | Jasmine Sea Foam Cream | Regardless of cafe location, the jasmine sea foam cream combination is an infallible one and unlikely to be unpallatable. Obviously, the fat in the cream neutralizes the bitter tannins in the tea, drawing out the gentle floral notes of the jasmine in a velvety smooth sip. Sweet and salty flavors are added to accent and dance in the mouth, creating the ultimate mouth experience.
